The following piece of text was from an essay I wrote for my American government class either my
junior or senior year in highschool. I received an A on the piece.

A Jew's Life After the Holocaust

I was a Jew in Auchwitz. I was with my entire family when I came to this horrible place,

but now I am the only one. All of my friends and all of my family - all have been destroyed by

the Nazis. I have nowhere to go, my home has been destroyed by Adolph Hitler and his quote,

 unquote "cronies".

What could I do? My only hope was to put that stuff behind me, like a bad dream. So

I did what most people would think unthinkable: I became a comedian. My first attempts were

mediocre at best. For example, my very first attempt occured outside a local German

convenience store called Oyvey's. I walked up to a man and questioned, "Where could I find

Oyveys's at, my good man?" He looked perplexed at first and then said to me two words I

could simply not repeat in this essay. Well, actually, I can repeat the word "you", I suppose.

Picking up the pieces, as I learned, was not going to be as easy as it first seemed. So I

canned the entire comedian idea; it wasn't all that great to begin with. So I tried the whole

family thing over again, and sadly, that didn't pan out all that great either. So no matter what I

did, the thoughts of the holocaust still haunted me.

So the point of this brief, but excellent story is that us Jews who survived the Holocaust

is that we can try to move on or forget the events but what happened there will never leave us,

and we will have to live with the thoughts of those events for the rest of our lives, and they will

never, ever leave us. Did I just write that?
